Food Supply Chain Traceability
A blockchain-based food supply chain traceability solution designed to improve transparency and auditability across supply chains using Hyperledger Fabric.
Project Overview
This enterprise solution targets multi-party supply chains where transparency and provenance verification are critical. By implementing a decentralized registry of products, custody handovers, and compliance documents, AnekantLabs engineered a system that prevents food fraud, speeds up recalls from days to seconds, and fosters trust among producers, logistics partners, and retailers.
The Challenge
Traditional supply chains suffer from fragmented records, siloed databases, and lack of trust between transit participants. When food-borne contamination happens, tracing the origin requires manually collecting paper receipts and database logs, which takes days, resulting in massive financial and safety risks.
The Solution
We developed a Hyperledger Fabric network with distinct peer nodes representing the grower, processor, distributor, and retailer. Smart contracts (chaincode) enforce business rules for state transitions. Every handoff is cryptographically signed and committed to an immutable ledger, with supporting files (certificates of quality) linked and hashed.
